Message From our CEO

Welcome to 2019!  We, here at Public Service Credit Union, are so excited about our plans and possibilities for this upcoming year. 

During 2018 we took some steps to position the credit union for growth, expansion and improved member service.  Financially, 2018 was another very good year for us. Our assets grew from $269MM to nearly $300MM and our net earnings exceed $2MM, more than 100% above budget!  Additionally, our membership grew by more than 1,000 new members! 

As mentioned, our primary focus this past year was on growth and expansion. To that end, we:

  • Completed a merger with Great Lakes Members Credit Union.
  • Completely renovated our branch at the VA Hospital in Detroit providing a more welcoming environment and improved services.
  • Purchased a new branch location on Grosse Ile and began renovations that will be completed by the end of this month.
  • Purchased the Family Service Center Shared Branch network that provided us with seven additional branches located throughout the metro Detroit area.  

Also, in 2018 we were excited to roll out our mobile app with a new look and many additional features, including the ability to manage your debit card within the app, and completed the installation of a new phone system that cut wait times in half!  I am also so proud to brag about the many community and charitable events that our employees were involved with throughout the year that made the difference to thousands of lives in the communities we serve.  Our staff was so generous with their donations and with their time, and I can’t thank them enough for their generosity and compassion! 

We recognize that we have undertaken a great deal during this past year and have some ongoing commitments to improve the member experience this year such as:  Instant Issue Debit Cards and PIN reset capabilities; a Members Reward & recognition program; renovations on all the acquired Shared Branch locations and the planned expansion of the Romulus main office.  Accordingly, as we look forward to 2019 our primary focus will be to Stabilize, Strengthen, Streamline and Sustain! 

Public Service Credit Union is financially strong, community focused, member centric, and a growth oriented.  We have a great reputation in our community and amongst our peers. We have enjoyed phenomenal success and are blessed with a dedicated and caring team.  I am proud of our accomplishments and optimistic about our potential.  I would like to take this time to thank our team, our leadership and our members for making this all possible!
